Project Description

I am planning to collect the opinions and thoughts of LGBTQ+ students on anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in Tennessee. Upon completion of the survey, I will present my findings to the legislators responsible for introducing and supporting such legislation.

Why does this topic interest you?

I myself am bisexual and transgender. I want Tennessee to be a safe space for those like me in the future. Whenever I go out of state and tell someone I’m from Tennessee, they give me a look and say something along the lines of “That must be tough” or “I’m so sorry” I want to change the attitude Tennessee has towards LGBTQ+ folks and consequently the attitude the rest of the world has towards Tennessee.

What are your professional aspirations?

I plan to go into local legislative advocacy.
