Current Focus: Dance Therapy and its Application to College Students

Project Description

My research is in dance therapy and its mood-boosting effects on college students. I am taking the work of the founders of dance therapy and applying it to a sample of college students to test which dance therapy techniques are the most effective in improving the mood of the participants.

Why does this topic interest you?

I have been dancing since High School, and I would feel my best after a long dance class where I danced to work through my emotions. In college, I discovered that the specific practice tailored towards my interest is called Dance Therapy. Now, I’m interested to see which technique of Dance Therapy is the most effective in improving the overall confidence and mood of other dancers and non-dancers.

What are your professional aspirations?

I wish to work as a pharmacist in an outpatient facility.

Do you have any advice for future researchers?

Research is not scary! It takes an inquisitive mind, not a perfect mind, to conduct research.
