Current Focus: How Marketing Influenced the Top 20 Box Office Films of 2022

Additional Interests: Reading; Podcasts (Morning brew Daily!); Marvel & Star Wars; Church

Project Description

I am interviewing people from the marketing teams behind the blockbuster films of 2022 and asking them about their marketing process to identify correlations and key aspects of box office success.

Why does this topic interest you?

Personally, I am a big fan of enjoying movies. I enjoy movies from Christopher Nolan’s “Interstellar”, James Gunn’s “Guardians of The Galaxy” trilogy, and the newly animated “Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse.” It’s fun for me applying business principles and practices that I’ve learned in class integrated with my interests. Discovering the behind-the-scenes marketing for these projects just simply amazes me.

What are your professional aspirations?

After graduating, I want to spend a few years in the workforce. In the meantime, I plan on studying for the GMAT. Within a span of three years post-graduation, I want to start applying for attendance to the top 20 business schools in the nation. If I were to be accepted to a top 20 MBA program, I would concentrate in marketing. My dream job would be a marketing management position within the Walt Disney Company. Plans could always change… so who knows!

Do you have any advice for future researchers?

NEVER TOO LATE TO TRY SOMETHING NEW I am a senior graduating this December and this is my first research project. Over the years I’ve been trying to find a project that would suit me, but for some reason it didn’t work out as I planned it to be. It’s never too late to start a research project! Don’t be afraid to try something new! IT’S OKAY TO FAIL It’s okay if your research application gets rejected. I had this very project rejected last Spring. I’m glad it was rejected, because I was able to refine my skills and knowledge. Now, I have the opportunity to work on it now that I am prepared! 🙂
